This is a picture of Caesarea Maritima
or Caesarea by the Sea. In
Acts 10:1 it is the place where Cornelius the Centurion requested Peter’s
visit. The story follows of Peter’s ministry to the Gentile Cornelius and
his receiving a vision from God which opened the way for evangelization of
the Gentiles. In Acts 23:33, the story is told of Paul’s imprisonment in
Caesarea. It may well be that Paul stood before King Agrippa and gave his
defense while standing in the amphitheater that has been unearthed and
partially restored in this picture.
